In the West, couples tend to live together before marriage, therefore, they have an idea of what a new household may require.
In the Arab world, this is totally different. Arab couples DO NOT live together before marriage. This is a social taboo. In fact, some (in very conservative societies) would not have seen each other before their wedding night.
